The Pacific is the region most often planned in a single direction, out, and most often ruined by a four-day stop. The right Pacific trip is twelve nights minimum, and ideally two weeks. The flight earns the time.
Australia I treat as three different briefs: Sydney and the east coast in November; Western Australia for wine and wildlife in February; the outback (Uluru, the Kimberley) in the southern dry. New Zealand is, simply, the country where I most often send the cars to the wrong side of the road on purpose, North Island then South, by helicopter where it matters.
French Polynesia is the trip I most often save until last. It is also the most precise: which atoll, which water villa, which week. The wrong week is a different trip.
