What we keep, and what we don't.

The only place this site asks for anything is the enquiry form. If you use it, you give us your name, your email address, the dates you have in mind, where you would like to go, the kind of trip you are considering, and whatever you choose to write in the message.

You do not have to use the form at all, and there is no account to create. We do not ask what you intend to spend, and there is no field for it anywhere on the site.

To reply to you and, if you go ahead, to plan and book your travel. That is the whole purpose. Your details are not used to build a profile, and they are not sold, rented, or shared for anyone else’s marketing, ever.

Your enquiry is emailed to Maryann and to no one else. Delivery is handled by an email service acting on our behalf, which sends the message and keeps its own record of the messages it carries. The site’s hosting service carries your enquiry on its way to the mailbox, and its routine technical logs can hold a copy for a short time.

If your travel goes ahead, the details a booking requires are shared with the airlines, hotels and operators concerned. That is unavoidable: a reservation cannot be made anonymously. Booking also asks for more than this site ever does: passport details, payment, the practical facts of travel. Maryann gathers those directly, not through this website.

Maryann sends a short newsletter about once a month. Joining it asks for your name and your email address, nothing else. The list is kept, and each issue prepared and sent, by services acting on our behalf.

Subscribing is separate from enquiring. Writing to Maryann does not put you on the list, and nothing ever will except asking to be on it.

Every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works in one click. You can also simply write to us, and we will take you off ourselves.

We use a simple, cookie-free measurement service to see which pages are read. It records pages viewed, rough location by country, and the kind of device used. It does not follow you to other websites and does not identify you.

Before launch, while the site is private, one cookie named gt_preview remembers that you entered the preview password. It holds no personal information, and once the site is public it is neither set nor read.

Sending the enquiry form is how you consent to us using your details to reply and to plan what you have asked about. Subscribing to the newsletter is how you consent to receiving it. Neither implies the other, and there is no pre-ticked box anywhere on this site.

You can withdraw that consent at any time by writing to us. The only limit is a practical one: if we are already holding a booking for you, we cannot un-share the details the airline or hotel needs to honour it.

Our website, our email delivery, and the newsletter run on services whose servers sit outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held in another country can be accessible to that country’s courts and government authorities under its own laws.

Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection, and your enquiry is delivered by email rather than kept in a customer database; there is no stored file of enquiries behind this website waiting to be lost. The services that carry the mail keep their own working records, as mail services do.

If information about you were ever exposed in a way that created a real risk of significant harm, we would tell you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.

Your enquiry lives in Maryann’s email, and correspondence relating to a booking is kept as long as the law and the travel industry require. If nothing comes of an enquiry, you can ask us to delete it and we will.

If you are on the newsletter list, your name and email address stay on it until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.

Write to maryann@gaskintravel.com and ask. You may request a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within thirty days, as PIPEDA requires.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Travel is sold under TICO registration #50013138 (Travel Industry Council of Ontario). That registration governs how travel is sold and how your money is protected. It is separate from this privacy policy, which exists under PIPEDA.

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it.
